how do u know Genuine volvo pegasus in 18" alloys from the look a like ones?

Apparently the copies have a much bigger 'R' symbol on the spokes than the genuine ones, also should have the correct markings on the back side of one of the spokes.

Th genuine ones have Volvo stamped on the back of one of the spokes.

If I recall correctly, the offset (ET) for the genuine ones is 43. Again, this is stamped on the inside of the rim.

Always possible - Chinese notorious for this. Only reasonable way is to get a known original wheel and check against it - albeit no guarantee as fakes can be very good. There used to be a lot of concerns about aftermarket alloys - but the market seems flooded with them and the scare stories seem to have diminished. Personally, any fifteen year old alloy is likely to have been exposed to potential structural issues, so getting them x-rayed by a reputable restoration company may be the only route to ease anxieties.
My brother had a (S3) V70 D5 company car from new - he was forever having wheels replaced under warranty as they got bent. Was resolved in the end. However, it does show that even Volvo alloys have their faults.
