I have a 2002 S60 with the RTI and I have a few questions.

1 - Does it accept dvd's or only cds?
2- The sat nav won't display, it keeps displaying a black screen with an error about inserting a cd?
3 - How can this be fixed?

It's a very annoying problem because currently I can't get into the sat nav menu and the unit pops up every time the car is started which I don't want. Any help would be really great! Thanks.

Hi Matt

I had this recurring problem and bought a cd rom cleaner (cd with bristles) and make sure it is inserted into the cartridge and ready to spin before you turn the ignition on. This was 8-9 months ago and mine has been fine since although it may have just been circumstance. Mine is a 2001 and only accepts CDs, i believe the newer versions are DVD.

Where can the CD be found?

the cd rom cleaner cd can be found in places like comet or currys

Sorry I mean the RTI cd, I assume it's not in the stereo 4 disc changer?

the RTI cd should be in a dedicated disc changer in the boot (which doesnt play audio CD's)

Hi Matt,

No the DVD based RTI unit from 2002 onwards will not play CD's or DVD-Video.
With regards to the Black screen, I had the same problem with mine a few months back. Went round to a couple of dealers who told me a new unit was required (well they would wouldn't they!!)
In the end I bought an official Volvo RTI cleaner disc off eBay, cost about £12+postage from Germany i think. Insert that, and it whirrs and buzzes for a minute or so, and then all is good! Do a search on eBay...see what comes up!

Yeah, thats the exact same sort of disc I was talking about......they keep popping up on eBay, but as you say Rufe may be able to match that price anyways!
