My drivers door is making a horrible clunk sound when you open & close it - I am assuming that it needs a new check strap. Can anyone please tell me is this an easy job to do yourself and if so how do you do it please :)

I replaced my drivers door check strap recently as it too was making an awfull clicking sound when opened fully. It cost me 22 quid from my nearest Volvo dealer.
Took me about 45 minutes from start to finish, dead easy to do.
The jobs involves removing the door card to access the two 10mm nuts securing the strap to the door from the inside. The two bolts securing the strap the the car are T50 (i think) torx bolts. Once you have the old strap removed, swap the rubber boot over to your new strap and refit, thats it, job done.

My door now operates silently, well worth the effort!

I did try some White Aerosol grease on mine but it made no difference at all, the strap was worn and needed to be replaced.
