My 2 large loans are paid off in December and I'm changing to a better car or 2, What do I do with my current car?
It's not really let me down (apart from the now fixed, Intermitent fuel pump relay) So I could keep her.
I'm after an 855R or T5R of some description for the dog, And been tempted by an Audi S2 Avant for a toy.

1. Keep it, Run it into the ground?

2. Break it?

3. Sell it? It has no history and 253k (at time of writing) So worth about 2p.

4. Give it away?

5. Raffle it, All proceeds go to the running of the club?

audi s2's are massivly overated, £4000 gets an average one with 150k+ miles and although the actual engines are good for big power you have to spend alot of money on rs2 spec items to get anymore than 280bhp as this is the limit of the s2's turbo, manifold, injectors and intercooler!

its not just the tuning side of things but theyre very very heavy cars that tend to want to understeer everywhere due the engine been slung so far over the front wheels, sub 20mpg everywhere and theyre getting a bit old now too.

for the money you would be better off spending a bit more and getting a b5 chassis audi s4 2.7 biturbo or a 2001 s6 4.2 v8 which can be had for under £6k.

I see what your saying, But I love the 5 pot.
There was a Coupe on Pistonheads a few weeks back, 650bhp for 9k.
I searched round and found quite a few places that supply big turbos/injectors etc. For not a lot of cash. I reckon 500hp is within reach quite easily.

to get 500bhp from an s2 engine you would be looking at the following....

uprated conrods
decent rod bolts
uprated rs2 bearings
rs2 water pump
at which point you would prob have all the bottom end lightened and new piston rings or even go for forged pistons and overbore the block
uprated sach's clutch
rs2 exhaust manifold
rs2 or steel head gasket
garret gt3071r turbo or bigger
different cams
660cc injectors
uprated fuel pump
bigger intercooler
a decent exhuast, 3 inch turbo back
a good custom map and rolling road time, plus egt and afr gauges then you would have to massivly uprate the brakes and suspension, wheels and tyres....

the bill would be around £10k i would imagine!

ive seen an s6 with a similar spec produce 430bhp minus the cylinder head work, im not been an arse im been realistic they are tunable BUT only if you have got the wallet for it.

most s2's never go above the 280bhp remap, exhaust and other minor mods.

No probs, Any info welcomed.

Some cheap sites are out there though, And thats without the work I can do myself.
Second hand parts also pop up now and then, I'm in no rush for big power. :)

Scariest car ive ever been in was an Audi RS2 Estate, 350bhp Porsche Tuned engine, Porsche Big Brakes, Porsche Handling, and all the comfort and practicality of a big estate.

They fetch a hefty premium though :grumpy:

Is this the same 'cherry1809' that was buying... a used dipstick... from that idiot I bought a load cover from....?

My advice would be not to saddle yourself up with more debt with more loans.

If your car runs - keep it going.

If you are thinking of buying S2, S6's etc you will need deep, deep pockets to keep the car on the road.

Remember its not just the purchase price, its the insurance, fuel and specialist parts req to keep them healthy.

Its good advice.

Hope you don't mind me chipping in, I've got an RS6 at the moment.

I'd say get an RS2 too, there are some extremely good ones that can be had in RHD for £12k For similar money, you could probably get yourself a B5 RS4 .. probably going to be knocking on the door of 100k miles, but your RS2 will be no spring chicken on the miles front either!

Yeah I bought the dipstick...It's still going strong in all fairness. LOL.
No way will I be getting any more loans, And my advice to anyone thinking about it, Don't do it. If you can't afford it, Don't buy it.
I got my first one when I was about 25 or 26, And I'm just about to finish paying it all off now I'm 36.
Insurance is pitance for me now on most cars, Really (Could get used to being middle aged) Had a quote on an E39 M5 at less than £400, But everyone thinks your a pratt if you drive one...NIce quick cars though.
There are some nice S2's out there, Some already fitted with a lot of the parts needed for big power. I had thought about an RS4, But it'll be parked on the road at night, And it's easier to make an S2 look like a Tdi so no one will nick it :D

I think the way forward is quick diesels.

530d
A6 TDi
320Cdi
D5
etc..

Remapped for huge torgue and power.

Crunch time now approached, It seems my mind was made up for me this morning.
Went to check the oil and water (Been a while) And ended up draining a half litre of old black oil out the header tank
Still driving fine at the minute, But I don't expect it to be long now...Hades is hovering.
For now I've dumped a block sealant in, But with the oil pushing out rather than the water I can't see it sealing anything. I'll drive it till it pops, Then break it.
If anyone wants anything, Stick your name down in the seperate thread I'm about to start. When it goes, I'll only have maybe a week or 2 to get the bits off.
