Had both of mine done a couple of weeks ago and I know just how you feel. It shows that you look after your T5.

Mines just went through about 3 weeks ago so I know how you feel. As you'll know here in NI its all government testing so yeah I too feared the worst. It passed though needing little that I had already done. Steering arm and handbrake. Anyway my mechanic just happened to comment that I had a great car for its age (and he's a Volvo specialist) so well pleased. Anyway congrats mate another year to tear up the road lol.

Thanks guys.
Am thinking over the next 12 months I might spend some money on it. Top of the list would a re-spray including getting the grey plastic and the door handles painted (like a V70)
Or do I just go go down the power road. I will have a think after xmas. Apart from the filter and plugs its standard which I like cause my tyres dont seem to last that lost anyway (LOL)
A couple of weeks ago I was going to sell it and get a later model but me thinks the 850 is the first and best T5. Over the last four years I must have spent about three grand on the thing but like I said it flew throw the mot and there aint many cars that do that.
Anyway am made up its got a 12 month ticket again.......

Please dont take the piss out of my spelling as I am pissed and dont give a f.........

Mte donet worri abot the spelin, yur p***ed an we arnte lol. Stick with the 850 mate. I love my V70 I really do even though it ain't got a turbo and I will keep it till it cav's like I did with the T5. However I want a T5 back and it has to be an 850 cause in my opinion they look better than an S/V70 and they give you more of a feel good factor. So after xmas will be on the look out for an 850 T5R Or R and will keep the V70 as my donkey.

Its just that I keep trowing money at the thing and I wonder why. But then something will happen on the way to work and it all makes sense (know wot i meen mate) I will get into work at 8.15 and the lads that are already in will wonder why I have a big smile on my face. The car drives me mad matey.

I know exactly what you mean mate lol. 850's are like women, so alike its uncanny. You can be really pis**d with it and then it'll do something to make all ok again.

I bought my 850R a few months ago - I was specifically looking for an 850 T5 rather than a V70 etc. The 850 is a good old fashioned cables and accessible electronics type of car that is DIY friendly.

Not so the later generations (of most marques) which demand a laptop to do the most basic of things - one of the reasons I'm selling my Golf V5! (eg cleaned the throttle body? You need to reset it via a laptop. No manual adjustment possible, its all a closed black box system without the proper diagnostics software).

The 850 is old, yes, but its also a modern classic, so IMHO its worth keeping and pampering.

NB Its interesting that you're considering removing the black/grey bits from your bumpers - I've been looking into that myself after seeing a US 850R with it done - it brings the car bang up to date stylewise.

NB2 Congrats on passing the MoT! :)
