If your going there mate get it remapped, they will check it over anyway if you do this to make sure it's boosting properly etc, etc, only 150 quid can't go wrong

Remap for £150 is well worth it i had it done on mine and it transforms the car.

Hamish is ok, but can be arrogant with his knowledge, he knows all and he is always right ;)

Take hamish with a pinch of salt, he does know what he is doing and he is highly recommended :B_thumb:

Normally, when someone asks about HLM I will tell them what an absoulte crock of £££££ they are, and how Hamish will tell you that what he dies is the best, absolutely slates any of his competitors and anyone else in the industry, takes your money and then tells you to piss off if you have any issues, I would also normally post up a link to THIS (http://forums.t5d5.org/index.php?showtopic=961&hl=hybrid+hlm)thread, for your perusal.

But I'm in such a good mood today I don't think i'll bother :uglyhamme

The post that link directs to should be all the answer you need. I would certainly never consider using the services of Hamish after reading that. His customer service and situation handling is completely shameful, clearly his technical knowledge is woefully lacking and the pettiness to blame Chris for damaging a car that was already know to have a fault is undescribably pathetic.

Don't touch him with a barge pole is my advice, it's not from personal experience of course, but then again I can read.

Just go to RT Mechanics and get it done properly, the standard of their work is second to none.

I have never had ANY probs with HLM and will continue to go there.. personal preference i guess plus also I have heard BOTH sides of the story regarding this and have made up my own mind.. Its a shame that not all the info has been put up from both sides...
Also hearing both sides of the story. i know that Adam did the tuning on this car. while Hamish just opperated the rolling road. The car owner said when the car was checked by a volvo specialsist there was nothign wrong with the components of the engine. and as Hamish put the components on. and the volvo specialist said there was no fault with the components. I fail to see what Hamish has had all the Trouble over. Adam I believe was at the time working for CHIP TUNING LTD in conjunction with RICA so the tuning was done in effect by CHIP TUNING LTD / RICA not HLM as they are 3 different companies, just working in the same set of buildings. If it was the re map that would have caused the issue to arrise if it was that at all. then surely CHIP TUNING / RICA would be responsable not HLM???im not saying Adam is to blame either. as adam has worked on my car in the past with no problems since and was the one who tuned MY car several years ago. my car when I sold it was at 148,000 miles on the clock and still going strong with no problems and I have driven it hard in the past as most of us do if we are honest. and my CHIP TUNING / RICA tune was put on the car about 80,000 miles. im saying that surely it all comes back to CHIP TUNING / RICA no one else.. ....Freedom of speech etc etc.. I just dont think ppl should make their decisions about HLM without all the facts... especially when the car in question was over 100.00 miles on the clock. I know I wouldnt put a hybrid on a car over 100.000 which is 1 of the reasons I brought a new car so I can have a hybrid put on when the new one has only done 60,000. im sure ill get slatted for my input here but Im one of those who speaks his mind where others will just think it and not say it... at the end of the day. you wouldnt put a saddle on an old horse and race it at the grand national, you would choose a younger horse that woudlnt have to be pushed as hard for its age...anyone feel free to correct me if they feel I have got anything wrong. I dont htink i have as I have a good memory for stuff . I know ppl think Hamish an arrogant person. but he is Scotish.. they speak their mind . I know many a scotish person and they all have the same way of talking... and to be honest. If any of us in our own jobs are good at it and ppl who dont have the qualifications in our feilds try and tell us we are wrong of course we are all going to stand up for what we know is right... thats what we have the qualifications for....

It's been two years so why hasn't the other side been aired...because there isn't one that hasn't now been fabricated by hamish after such a long time..

Also hearing both sides of the story. what from hamish, as chris's side has been well publicised so hamish can conjour up wonderful explanations and maybe even blame someone else..
i know that Adam did the tuning on this car. while Hamish just
opperated the rolling road (PMSL). The car owner said when the car was checked by a volvo specialsist there was nothign wrong with the components of the engine this investigation was to prove that the engine would have been capable of withstanding the gains said modifications boasted.
and as Hamish put the components on. and the volvo specialist said there was no fault with the components. I fail to see what Hamish has had all the Trouble over. I believe was at the time working for CHIP TUNING LTD in conjunction with RICA Rica dont do custom maps, so they have no part in this except they pulled the plug on chip tuning and hlm after this episiode so the tuning was done in effect by CHIP TUNING LTD / RICA not HLM as they are 3 different companies, just working in the same set of buildings. If it was the re map that would have caused the issue to arrise if it was that at all. then surely CHIP TUNING / RICA would be responsable Well there you go as stated by stormtroll chiptuning was to blame, adam webber was chip tuning and now running as turbo tuner, funnily enough he now has a sales banner on this forum, would you trust him now. not HLM???im not saying Adam is to blame either.you just did
as adam has worked on my car in the past with no problems since and was the one who tuned MY car several years agodidn't you just have a generic RICA then. my car when I sold it was at 148,000 miles on the clock and still going strong with no problems and I have driven it hard in the past as most of us do if we are honest. and my CHIP TUNING / RICA tune was put on the car about 80,000 miles. im saying that surely it all comes back to CHIP TUNING / RICA no one else.. ....Freedom of speech etc etc.. I just dont think ppl should make their decisions about HLM without all the facts..but chris gave us the facts, which hamish could have answered.
especially when the car in question was over 100.00 miles on the clock. They knew the mileage of the car before hybrid was fitted they had been chris's main volvo garage for a year or two before this happened, i'd have thought they would know the ins and outs of the car very well, I know I wouldnt put a hybrid on a car over fore they sold the set up to him, 100.000 which is 1 of the reasons I brought a new car so I can have a hybrid put on shame chris has sold his now and you'd be much better off sticking a kk24 on, they are only £650 brand new can get them for £200 second hand, a very good turbo when the new one has only done 60,000. im sure ill get slatted for my input here but Im one of those who speaks his mind where others will just think it and not say it...

at the end of the day. you wouldnt put a saddle on an old horse and race it at the grand national, you would choose a younger horse that woudlnt have to be pushed as hard for its age..Well if thats the case most of us shouldn't be on the forum with our old 850's and v/s70's.anyone feel free to correct me if they feel I have got anything wrong. But when we get it wrong we should then sort it out and not tell the customer to feck off with no support at all thats what we have the qualifications for..a qualification hamish needs is in customer relations ..

Anyone trying to acheive huge bhp's on old and tired high mileage cars should be warned:

Don't do it - the stress on you and the car is not worth the bother.

On the other hand you might get away with it and for a while its the best thing ever - which it most definitely is!

Similar thing happened to Silvia Engineering, crap work, even crappier customer relations.
Changed the name to SE Nissan, Then something else, Then went under....along with loads of peoples money and parts.
I was looking at getting a remapped ECU from HLM, But after reading that story it has put me off somewhat. :frown:
