Got in the T5 this afternoon to pop down the town when the strangest of things happend......! Driving at about 30 mph , All of a sudden all the dials & gauges on the dash apart from the trip comp & Turbo boost gauge stopped working... I pulled over turned off the car , waited a couple of mins & started car again , still not working..? So drove off down the road , about 1/2 mile later everything starts working again & its been fine for the rest of the day . It was a tad worrying when it happend.... :frown: Just wanted to know if this has happend to anyone else & what it might be..!
Many thanks , Worried from Suffolk ! :worried:

the only thing i can think of is the old ignition barrel playing up, & few people have had the barrel starting to go & its caused some weird things to happen

Happened to me after I'd taken the dash top off to fit my boost guage. Must have disturbed the multiplug to the back of the instrument binnacle.

Gave the top of the dash a good smack and it hasn't done it since.

So prob just a bad connection.

The ignition thing for me knocks out the lights and indicators and ABS & TRACS lights stay on.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, (Im a bit of a thread excavator!) but Im having a similar issue

When I start the car, I let go of the key, and it should jump back, but it doesnt quite make it, leaving the ABS and Tracs light on, and as you guys say, no side lights, speedo or indicators...a slight nudge and it seems to make the connection and all is good.

Tonight replaced the plug on the end of the ingnition column with a brand newun form pfv, but still no luck?

Without the end plug conected the key and pin turn nice a freely with hardly any resistance, and Ive given all the components a good soaking in wd40, but still once assembled it doesnt quite flick back far enough, so I still have to give it a slight nudge..

Further more, with the ignition barrel off, but still plugged into the loom (so I can start the car with a screwdriver) it still does the same thing, needing a slight tap... so that rules out the key barrel and pin...

Anyone know why this is, are the springs just a bit weak in them? Anyone got a solution?

Regards

Joe
