View Full Version : Electric window problem

The offside front window has started playing up, and after our experience with older Volvos (electric windows doing their own thing!), I'd like to fix it before it gets worse.

It goes up and down OK, except when opening, at the very last, as the window disappears into the door there's a loud 'ker-lunk' sound and you can see the glass shift to one side - so it's probably a mechanical problem.

Is it easy to remove the door panels to look inside, and importantly, do they go back in again properly, or are you forever left with loose bits? (I did it once many years ago with a mk 1 transit and the panels were never the same). Or should I let a professional do it?

yes I have had my drivers door inner off to change to motor, ( but it was the control pannel that caused the problem) any way. Its easy Hex keys for the screw bolts and brute force for the panels and door handle,
just take care dont ' force ' any thing and it all goes back fine.

Thanks, both, for the advice. I'll let you know how I get on.

A broken rear guide was the problem on my last one. Give away is the rattle when you shut the door with the window down. Being poverty stricken at the time,I improvised with a cable tie and never had to touch it again........
