Even if I left now I'd only get there at 4pm!
It's a 4hr drive to the ferry from here mate.

I thought the other end of the car park was reserved for agricultural diesel tractors?
In these times of political correctness gayomatics should have equal rights ;)

When did the stands go up at Avon? It was just a grassy bank the last time I went (about '98).

just had a natter with the chap James was in contact with & organised it all.

the track is due to open at 11am, but obviously scuttineering will start before that.

Because of the amount of interest they've actually added a 5 cylinder championship to there table, fingers crossed i might see about entering a full year next year with BT.

sorry JelT5 my batteries started going flat already so had to stop the banter, p*ss taking will resume this afternoon lol

Hi all, just got home, would like to say thanks to james and gayle for setting it up, it was nice to see everyone and show most of the jap c**p what we can do.

My bro's best time was 14.153 @ 101.93 mph, there was more grip than at york but still not enough for 1st and 2nd gear (nearly time to get rid of the Nankang hedgefinders).

Looking forward to the next one now when I get the 18T installed.

Just like old times, i didnt get to spend much time with you all as the queue's were so long, managed 3 runs in the Audi but traction even for the 4wd boys was hard work after the accident at the start line, i was having to fight to keep the Audi straight off the mark, as were all of us. Even the Evo's and scoobies were struggling in the afternoon.

I managed a 13.4 @ 103mph, far from its best, but the best of the 3 today.

I managed 8 runs all in all, best was 15.3 @ 94.77 MPH that was with 2.487 60ft, I dont feel is too bad for ME7 and 1800 plus KG. Worst was a 16.182 but once I got going I was faily consistantly in the 15s 93-95 mph.

Thanks to everyone for making my first time running up the strip a good/addictive one!!

Managed a 15.93 for the quickest time - pretty consistent through the runs (93,94,96,99) so perhaps the limits for a 2.5LPT?

Nice to see some of the old crowd up the strip and making some new acquaitences.

Now for the racing driver excuses.

Only got to 15.6 in the end. Consistenly hitting 98 MPH but couldn't nail a decent start. Partly lack of talent - partly lack of traction.

I know that the C70 has a good time under the bonnet but I have yet to find it.

Still had a smashing time - but I did feel it was somewhat disrupted by the massive queues.

Nice to see Ad, Spesh and J. I trust that this will gain momentum and we can have a good social and drag racing weekend organised sometime soon. I fear this may have been the last of this year?

Its actually an 850, my best run of the day ;) Not bad for an auto....

It was great to meet up with and chat to some of the members of the forum. The weather was near perfect for racing today, and it even held out. The queues were long, the longest i have seen at avon park, but there weren't any long stoppages today which was a first.

Well done to all who got good times down the strip. I think everyone managed at least a 15.9 which is quite respectable. Even my mate in the Leon diesel managed that time, which surprised me more than it did him.

jamest5r, what 60ft times were you and Gayle hitting today? I'm curious as i don't power start like you guys do.

awesome day out as usual there. went up with the misses, spesh and mk3phil. good to see spesh finally finding the right button on his lap top and getting the 13.2. a mate we know from down our way managed a 12.3 in his evo, but was crossing the line not far off 10mph slower than spesh, proving the 4wd grip does certainly count for a lot at the start. next time spesh... you can do it!

So maybe the next time around we can get everyone together for a group photo. Both cars and peeps, you never know we might get to say hello to everyone and put faces to cars?
