Im currently getting an average fuel consumption reading on the info centre of between 29 and 31mpg?
How accurate is that do we think? Im thinking its quite good considering the age and type of motor?

Is that your Lambda light on?

On the V70 we haven't believed the readout since we got it, it's showing average 33 mpg and with my right foot that can't be right.

yep, the ECU doesn't like the enlarged MAF. You soon get used to ignoring it lol

My T5 returned a steady 18 mpg on town duties over three years, but could do 38+ on a 55mph fifth gear run. Not that it had many of those...

The R is thirstier, but WTF - it's cheaper than smoking, drinking and girlfriends. Whether it is as much fun - well, there's a debate...:smileypul

Since I am married, and don't smoke or drink the only expenditure is BLOODY EVERYTHING! :bog:

The simple test is as follows:

Brim it when you fill it - as full as you can get it petrol literally frothing in front of your eyes at the filler.

Then drive 150 miles.

The repeat the brim it test.

Check how much fuel you have added (your petrol receipt for the forgetful) and then do the maths on how much it cost you to do the 150 miles.

Thats as accurate as you will ever get.

Cheers

I was getting an overall average of 27mpg in my 850 Turbo. That was over a long duration, maybe 6 months. I was more than happy as that was a mixture of town, open road and thrashing. When I got the V70 (as you all know 2.4 non turbo 140 brake) it was returning the same 27mpg. It was a bit dissapointing as it lacked, well ... it lacked a T5 motor. However now after its MOT and obviously emisions being reset I can't get above 25.5. Its p***ing me off big time. Does anyone know why?
