To anyone who's never been to watch, it's well worth it. free to watch from the Prom or for about a tenner you're allowed a pitlane pass. last time I went I ended up deep in conversation with a Mk 1 Cortina driver as to the state of his spark plugs he'd just removed, and possible causes (asking me showed he was desperate!!).
Good luck Russ, hope to see you some time during the day.

Simon............
I will be there sunday ;) I live in brighton, and suggest you follow the signs to the Royal Sussex county hospital, and try to find a parking space somewhere around there and then walk down to the seafront! Failing that, Head out of brighton on the A259 towards the east (rottingdean and peacehaven) And try to find a space there m8y..... Whatever way you do it, it will be a nightmare, Brighton is hard enough to find a parking space in on a normal sunday, let alone when there is a HUGE event on such as the speed trials!
See ya there!

Its about a 15min walk back to the event from there.... DO NOT park in the ADSA car park because its limited to 2 hours parking, and they charge! Hi all had a great day at Brighton there was a fantastic range of cars and bikes of all types and ages having a go the weather was fine a bit too hot for us turbo cars !!
My first launch did not go well I have had so little time to do some decent practice
I was to busy messing around with my anti lag the first time was 15.77 rather slow !!
I waited for another run and then improved my time to 13.83 which was better but a much better time is in the car I thought I would have been having another go but in the class I was in you only do a practice and one run I really enjoyed my day but will be back again for more runs I feel a trip to Santa pod coming on to try a proper surface a few pics from the day :

Up on the first level there were groups of 6 or so fold-up chairs 'reserved' by larger groups who were taking turns to walk the pitlane and spectate (and drink beer!) so if Russ is going again next year how about an organised VPCUK group? we could park up at the Marina (there was a TVR club parked up there this year).
I can't do justice to telling you what an excellent day out it is. £10 entry for a whole day's motorsport, up close, with the smell of Castrol R, the noise of highly strung motorbike engines, V8s and highly tuned 5 cylinder Volvos!
I have a .mov file of Russ's first run and I'm trying to isolate the sound file as I'm thinking of using it as my ringtone!!:mischievo

Just being honest i have had a few problems with a company letting me down on my special cams i should be running so thought i would try another test with a different cam selection for now,i did a RR run a few weeks ago just to test to see what she made (don't want to be seen as a RR queen as some like to make out...)
The Peril was never built as a 1/4 king at all as you rightly say i would of gone a different route its mainly a road car :)

Hi Volvo lovers just thought i would add one of my videos from the speed trials from last October i have not been able to convert them until now so thought i would finally add some noise here :
You will here the anti lag start @ 1 min 42 once i cross the finish line (centre switch on the dash) no aid at all to me other then the noise just to please the watching crowd hope you enjoy them and it gives you some idea how the car sounds this is the second run of the two I had on the day a 13.83 @114 mph not the fastest time in the world but I was happy I never went to win the event just take part I will be doing more ¼ mile runs soon as the gearbox parts are complete .
Enjoy :

Interesting video, sounds great. The car isn't much of a drag car, the lack of traction proved that - but it is monster quick from 3rd on and pretty stable looking too! Crossing the line at 114 proves it has lots of power. A 13.2sec M5 does 114 @ 1/4 mile with launch control, rwd and a double clutch gearbox. Under the right circumstances you can be in the 12's.
I know you are an Evo man anyway, so I assume you have seen the 30-130 thing, are you competing?

one of your "haters" here.
believe it or not i actually love the car but it must be galling to think you've spent all that money on making the car the best you can. and then you end up getting whupped by elliot in his home built and mapped car.
even if you did have traction problems, anyone who knows their arse from their elbow knows the terminal speed shows up quite a lot. yours was 114 compared to elliots 119.
you know what the ironic thing is? elliot set his time at north weald which has a crap surface. you know whats even more ironic? he isn't interested in straightline speed, he just wants to make his car quicker round a track:remybussi

Ok here goes I finally managed to sort out my video of the very first launch of the Yellow at Brighton as you can see as I moved to approach the line I switched on my launch control (far left switch this was my main error as the car MUST be stopped for 2 seconds for it to activate)
But with all the excitement of the event I forgot !! I then turned on the anti lag (middle button) just for some off beat five cylinder music (makes the car sound more like a Subaru lol) pops when coming off the throttle no performance advantage at all as I get ready to launch.
I then realised the car was not in launch mode so tried to get it to switch in (as it turns out the car did not like this mistake and so cut the revs from 2nd to third gear as you can here !!
As you can clearly here my thoughts on the run at 2.26 says it all lol
Its only after working out how to do all this video editing that I worked out what went wrong lol

that is odd, i thought anti-lag worked by adjusting the timing by 40degrees & dumping excess fuel in at idle so it ignites in the turbo to get it spinning so it came on boost quicker, watching your vid as you say it seems to be dumping the fuel on over-run

I think you will find that a lot of the neg comments come not from the looks of the car but of the cars components, as people think the car was 90% done outside of RT and RT were just the fitters,
Also if i am not mistaken the Peril is being touted as the SLIC (straight line i candy),
Anyway i love the car she is a credit on what a lot of time/effort and money can do, if only we all had the time let alone the cost lol,

As a project the Peril is awsome!!!
surely as the 'project manager' it's up to you to source skills and components from wherever you see fit.
Some of us have 'projects' sitting in the garage and we do not have the skill to get aspects of it done (for me it's a lack of any welding skills or mechanical aptitude that keeps my 1987 Mini in pieces in my garage). However the 'vision' of the completed article is all mine.
Your 'vision' for the Peril has no doubt evolved as the car has, and maybe one day you will declare it 'complete'. Until then I think most of us enjoy updates on the £££££££ child of a Volvo 850 combined with an engine that sounds as though it has harnessed the power of an atom bomb, driven by a bloke WHO CAN'T GET WHAT ORDER TO PRESS THE BLOODY BUTTONS!!!!!!!:hilarious:hilarious:hilarious:

Hi Duane
I know your not having a go:wave23d: the full time anti lag can shorten the turbo life and engine life that’s correct.
I know a guy with a 500 plus hp Evo who runs his anti lag full time every day lol
My temp on the egt gauge jumps from 500 -650 or higher as soon as the anti lag is used so I am very glad of the decent manifold…

I think it’s a shame Stuart gave up with his car I would of liked to run against it at some point.
I only use Dyno dynamics rolling roads to prove the point because they lie so well and its all fixed LOL as someone once said they don’t flatter you they tell it like it is but even the experts have now rubbished them because there cars don’t perform
I have nothing to prove to anyone when I have finished the cars development I will choose what events I go to and take part in.
I am sure the results will come in time of course they can all build a car to this standard in five minutes and to a cost of ten pounds and make it 100 % reliable LOL

have you read anything you've actually written?
is there an echo in there with your head being so far up your anus?
lets get some things straight.
on t5d5 you put your project up. many people including myself praised it for what it was and is - an amzing project. of that there is no doubt.
you were even given info to help you with regards to your brake servo.
you've also if i'm not mistaken been given plenty of help with regards to your choice of turbo. the emails still exist.
what is it then that went wrong? did little russy wussy get bullied? did you get asked questions russy wussy didnt really want to answer?
GROW UP!
you go on loads of forums moaning about "haters" when it's just a figment of your imagination. there are no haters of your project.
there are some very unhappy people though.
A P2 V70R owner, the only mod on his car being a map (irrelevant which map) which left your garage running 1.8bar!
is it any surprise the ecu done a poo poo?
then the car goes to a volvo dealer and the only change they make is loosen the actuator. surprise surprise the car starts behaving itself again.
what about the 850 running a standard 15g turbo that was running 1.5 bar. the guy spent £11k over three years with you and the cars what? in a dealership somewhere needing an engine.
or how about the guy getting charged for 8 tyres? or getting charged for an engine mount that hadn't been changed?
or how about the customer who asked you to fit a certain intercooler who was then subsequently told it would not fit. only to then be fitted by an enthusiast from another forum whose now gonna be fitting the same intercooler to quite a few cars of which mine was one.
yes, money was reimbursed for the engine mount and tyres but there are many many more cases. how about bills going into the thousands being unitemised?
oh, just to add, i'll just say the above is all "alleged" as it's another thing to prove in a court of law.
to sum up, it's nothing to do with your car, it's your practices!
justin, told you you should have deleted my account lol, feel free to do so, i don't have a volvo anymore so doubt i'll be back here again.
