limp mode? gearbox arrow flashing ???

alrighty there guys, ? . as above , since a battery swap ive had an issue with my gearbox arrow light flashing and the car appears to be in limp mode or at the best it is in econ , sport mode will not work , the light on the switch is also flashing !, i have disconected the batt again and am gonna leave it for half an hour . any idea,s on what ive done or what i can do to sort it ? ..
( obviously its auto )

any advice would be greatfully recieved , cheers in advance mike

.. i think i answer"d my own question . as i have put the batt back on and its brand new again .. sorted

orange arrow flashing = fault code thrown by the auto box & reported a serious problem to the ecu.

you've read the codes? which fault is it? i hate autos yep i've got one ;-/ pre 96 the gizmo to read codes is under bonnet?
