I've been reading 10/40 semi synthetic which i find strange as usually anything with a Turbo is fully synthetic. I'm sticking good quality 10/40 sei synthetic in mine.

Is a 5W/40 too thin? Just that I've got about 7 litres of Shell Helix Ultra in the garage - cost an absolute fortune! Its a full synthetic IIRC. The 850R has 100k miles up, so I don't imagine its worn much.

Thanks

Do you mean your leaking lots? check your oil return pipe back into the turbo the seal here goes quite often and its only a couple of quid to fix, cheaper than topping up!!

As above. 10W40 semi-synthetic is the recommended oil. Agree though,I thought fully synth would be the one but Volvo know best..
