Im thinking of doing reverse intercooler pipes on my c70 t5,anyone done this?and is it worth the expence?
Also the car has a bleed valve fitted pulls like a train to 1.5 bar [bsr chip fitted] then over boosts and pulls back if i youse full throttle, tried to adjust but makes no differance should i junk it???

Ive got the rip kit i suppose it does make a little difference but for the money they charge for kits i dont think there worth it have you thought about making your own i know pedro and ffm have done theres this way.

ditch the bleed valve for a decent MBC (not R-spec, they seem to be having issues). As for the reverse flow as Pete mentioned i made up my own kit using stainless tube & silicone joints. I already had the Volvo reverse kit from the factory so can't do a direct comparison, but many people who have swopped noticed an improvement in spool up time on the turbo

you will have to be more cautious with the MBC than the bleed valve, it gives alot more of an aggressive power delivery & i certainly wouldn't go above 1bar with it for fear of bending a con-rod

the only place i could think of was Forge motorsport but couldn't find anything on there site, & tbh it was only a guess so no idea what their like if they do make them

you could always go for a EBC (electric boost controller) instead

Mine's up to 1.2 bar now.... :D

and pulling better than she's ever done, not that I've used it much, I'm saving her for the track.... if the bloody rain stops....

And yeh, I did that many mods all at once, I couldn't tell you how much difference the rip made, what I do know is that I have very little if any lag, from 40mph in 4th...

My R-spec MBC doesn;t seem to be consistent. I backed it off the other day, and it seemed to be boosting more, so I turned it up a little today, and it was boosting less.

With changing from normal turbo pipe setup to the reverse pipe setup can you still use the original intercooler?Or are there differances there also?Sorry if this sounds bit silly but bit new to turbo cars

no its the same intercooler, the direction of the air going thru it is the only difference

BT is my first turbo car & learnt everything with the help of forums so ask away with any questions you've got, its not a silly question if you don't know the answer

i did get Powerflow to make a new turbo to intercooler pipe but i wasn't overly happy with the bends, they were a bit to restrictive for my liking so sold it (think its still on a members car somewhere)

i think your only bet is to make your own using silicone joints, i believe the OEM ME7 has a few sensors mounted into some of the pipes so not sure how easy it will be

Volvo being a pain made all the pipe outlets a different size, your best bet is to remove a pipe at a time & measure up what you need to replace it

it wants to go in the pipe from the bottom of the intercooler to the throttle body, as close to the throttle body as possible

thanks for the pic mate where does that vacuum pipe connect to?

mightywolf
Friday 16th July 2010, 22:17
if you look carefully on the first pic you can just see the blue vac hose behind the idle air control valve. there are 2 nipples on the manifold and it goes on the bottom one that normally goes to the re-circ valve (you should be able to trace back the hose to see it connect onto the re-circ valve on the turbo). the hose that goes to the re-circ needs to be taken off then the re-circ valve needs to be taken off and blanked off.

Hi guys,
I'm thinking of fitting a RIP kit to my 2004 2.4T GT,
Not as a power mod,
but so that I can get at my AUTO g/box dipstick...lol

So after fitting this kit,

CAN YOU get at the auto dipstick at all, ???
(cos at the moment I cannot even see the dipstick, even when pulling /pushing pipes and cables about, and I haven't got asbestos arms)

This is so that I can do an oil change when ready (Its practically impossible to dip it nevermind change it at the moment)

I do not know what engine management system or whatever ME7 is, that I have. All i know is it's a 2004 2.4T.

Any help advice will be appreciated.
cheers,
joe.

AFAIK there is no reverse pipe work for ME7.

The main issue is the plastic pipe that feeds into the ETM. It points in such a way that it doesnt really want to accept a pipe from the bottom of the IC. So you'd have to modify that (cut it/ rotate/ reglue) or remake a pipe with all the relevant sensors attached that could feed into the ETM.
