Hi, I am the new owner of an S60 T5 Sport on a 55 plate. Very please with the car, FSH, 60k, cost a shade under 7 grand which I thought was fair.

Anyway, I previously owned an S40 T4, MY01, which was a cracking car. I read that opening the air box, pulling out all of the sound insulating foam and adding a performance panel filter resulted in some cracking sounds. I tried it and it did!

When I got my S60 home i opened the air box and there was no panel filter in there, but a cylindrical looking filter. Is this the same filter from an S60R? I'm guessing this may have something to do with the motor being the 2.4 260bhp, And if so - should I be looking for an R filter and not a T5 one? Could I simply put a cone filter inside the airbox for example?

I am not interested in a full induction kit to be honest because I worry about the heat from the engine - although I did have an Apexi cone filter on a 200sx and that was awesome!

If anyone could advise me on what filter I have that would be great.

according to online information i found all S60's run the same filter, so yes your filter will be the same as the S60R. TBH tho i don't know the S60 intake well enough to make any suggestions on how to upgrade it, sorry

So you're saying all Volvo S60's have the same air filter?

if you t5 has a cylinder shaped airfilter then you will need to look up a "R" filter if you have a t5 with a rectangle filter then look for a normal t5 filter.

hope this helps
