so i need ideas as to why im dropping boost in just one gear 2nd i think hard to tell in an auto but it will only boost to 0.6 bar rather than the 1bar it boosts to in every other gear.
management light is on so what do i need to read the codes as it has the stupid obd socket rather than the onboard diag port

You will need to make a flash code reader as per Jods instructions over on the VOC forums to read your codes. If the fault light is lit on the dash there is obviously a problem somewhere.

Definite retro step removing the self-diagnostic,mine is the same buddy. Either invest in a code reader or pay someone. Have heard of some members making their own but I'm sure someone will be along to help.

Is it an early 850 then? 96 on models were OBDII equipped ;) If not then it has it's on onboard diagnostics for fault code reading :) Do you have a coin holder in front of the gear stick on the centre console? If so your car is OBDII equipped ;)

yes it has the obdII connection under the coin slots but these cars are not compliant with obdII software

take it to volvo or a volvo tuner for the codes being read out

Bit of a f**k up there by Volvo. It's only partially compliant but the codes are read from there and the service/airbag lights reset.

The garage i was working in had a cheap reset tool off Ebay, something like £80 iirc it was brill, reset everything you could want, you could also alter settings with it as well, but only if you knew what you were doing, which i didnt so left well alone.

Used it too reset the lambda sensor light and thats as far as i went :D

Im sure someone on here was offering a loan of a reader for postage costs, was a bit ago though :grumpy:

Hi Aaron
The box is obd11 and such can be read with the appropriate reader
The fuel ECM is flash code only and can be read with a flashcode reader..I can lend you one if you like...
Cheers

thanks for the offer may take you up on it if i get no where with this led thingy.
but what you are saying is its half obdII compliant and half not so really you would need both types of reader to check the whole system

on the later 850' the Fuel, Climate and Cruise are still flash code, so they are NOT obd11.The phase 1 70 are totally obd11
Stuff like abs, immob, seats instruments etc are obd11 and need a obd11 reader to get the fault codes..
Have you got a lap top?...
