I've only ever had Classic shape V70's, but I've seen a nice looking Y reg V70 2.4 manual gearbox, with black leather, with FVSH now showing 132K.

I know that the Classic 2.4 had a choice of 140bhp or 170bhp. Does this Phase 2 have the same engine, and if so, how do I check to see if it is 140 or 170??

This car would replace the Land Rover as the main school bus and dog chariot.

Any suggestions, or areas to look for. On sale at a local Volvo Independant.

Currently has the airbag service light illuminated on the dash, but would be sorted.

2.4 engine is a bit 'plain vanilla' if you get me. 140 horse is the 'economy' version and needs to be pushed. 170 is neither fish nor foul.

It has neither the performance of the T5 nor the economy & torque of the D5.

It's only my opinion and you may get a break on the insurance.

The chassis number will reveal the engine code at the main dealer nearest to you. If you are friendly with the receptionist you may be able to get the service history.

IIRC B5244S is the 170 and B5244S2 is the 140. If you have the reg then PM me and I may be able to tell you this evening.

Try before you buy.
