I am about to change my Aux belt and was wondering what tool i need to release the tension?
Looked in haynes manual and that says use a spanner on bolt, but i cant see a bolt on tensioner to use?
Any ideas please.
Mark.

In the middle of the tenioner wheel there is a square hole, best thing to do is find or make something that will fit across the corners of the square(I used a piece of steel plate cut to size) and then just use a pair of mole grips to move the tensioner out of the way.

Exactly right Tomcat, done mine just as you described, but another tip is to use an adjustable spanner with an extension bar stuck on the handle end for those of us without fingers like f*****g twizzle!!! or alternatively buy a box of band aid!!

Or, as an alternative, use a 21mm spanner from UNDERNEATH the tensioner. There are two parallel sides cast into the tensioner body.
