Anyone fancy a trackday? LOL

I have been talking to the guys at Bruntingthorpe (lovely they are too) and they are able to accomodate us on the 6th August for a track day. They will start they day of with a briefing followed by a "ducks & drakes" session where we follow their lead car to get a feel for the track before its open racing.

A break for lunch (which they will provide) and back to the track til half 4!

They can also offer us a tutorial/seminar on driving skills if we require.

Cost is £100 all in, you may take a passenge round with you and you may add another driver to your car for an extra £25.

Helmet hire is available for £15.

What do you reckon guys?

Hrmmm... at the moment it's a no, as I don't trust my driving.. however, if I come back from my supercar driving day without having written any of them off, I may change my mind ;) What's the closing date for entries Moppy?

Oh, and who's uprating their brakes before they go? It's one sure fire way of finding out who has the best brakes. I may hold off buying new ones until I find out who wins on the day ;)

Andrew.

Ross9
Friday 27th May 2005, 22:25
depends how confident you are in your own/other VF peoples, driving.

Its not a requirement for a track day for you to have insurance, I never have trackday insurance on any events, personal preference, or finance, lol.

I assume its a track day only, not speed runs ?

If its just track then I'm out...although might come but not to run....let me know the cost to watch etc...

That's rather odd...most of last year most of you lot weren't interested and worried about damage etc.......

Moppy,
Can you find out if this is an open pit lane...
total Car limit for the day...
what company is running the day as they are responsible for public liability insurance (not the damage to your car just personal injury to spectators and staff)...

Any other details you can think of...

When do you need a deposit...?

I would be interested in coming and having a go. 19T, New Suspension, New Pads. I see a lap time and a half!

There was another driving day I came across on my search but at this moment in time its only suitable for 3 people per day (however I am in talks)

It's a creative car control event "These courses take a progressive approach to developing your skill in understanding and managing your car on or near the limit." so basically its an advanced driving day. Now its quite pricey but I thought I would make you all aware as I do think its value for money. £395 for a full days driving & tutition in your own car.

Any furtehr info required give me a nudge!

Was that with Don Palmer Nats? If so, he's good. I've already had a road day with him, & on 15th. I'm having another session including Millbrook. BTW, he does a lot of work for Mercedes; if you buy a new AMG (some hopes) you get a day with him f.o.c. courtesy of Merc.
Cheers, Chris.

Yes, he's not cheap, but he really knows his stuff. Reason I'm with him is that he's one of the two "gatekeepers" for the High Performance Club. BTW, thats high performance driving, not necessarily in a high performance car.
Cheers, Chris.

That's rather odd...most of last year most of you lot weren't interested and worried about damage etc.......

?

I also was thinking this - i suppose it depends who is asking !?!?

As for track preping - you need near bald tyres on old wheels i suggest, and bring your regular alloys with you. My 05 Fabia is due for a pair of front tyres because they melt on the track and turn into a layer of jelly -

One other thing, if it is an open pit day, good luck; i think you will need it !

JUDGENINJA
Wednesday 1st June 2005, 23:03
open pit lane is better.....
You can dictate your own track time.
Also if a car does go off in your session you loose your session time and have to wait for your next alloted time. Open pit lane means and session can stop and start as required....

I'll be coming to either type, but my preference would be for open pit...

We (as in Justin, Steve and I) were invited down to Bruntingthorpe today to check the facilities out. We got to have a look at the set up and watch a bit of the days racing. I was really impressed and it seems a great venue for first timers. Its very well run with all the facilities (albeit a tad sparce)

They can offer us extra tuition before we hit the track but I will need to know if you all want this before they arrange to have someone there to offer us the instruction.

TBC - depends how many people want the extra tuition - obviously the more people the cheaper it is.

As for dates - 6th August I'm afraid saturday is the only day they have available for this sort of event

Thanks for the extended invite to non-volvo cars Mrs Mopp, I would have loved to come mix it up with the Volvos round bruntingthorpe but the date just doesnt suit i am afraid.

I am competing at Ten of the Best the week before and then Redline Ultimate Scottish Street car on the 21st August so cash and timescale arent workable, I'll need those 2 weekends between the events to fix whatever I break at TOTB in preperation for trying to win fastest scottish fwd lol.

Hope you all have a fantastic day

Also this event isn't on the forums calendar yet - you may want to change this Tash!
