LPG......few questions

I'm not upto date at all with LPG, I have heard of it and seen some petrol stations selling it but.... what is involved in fitting this LPG, I take it there must be another tank fitted to the car, is it expensive to have fitted, does it effect performance??

performance will be down slightly but i dont think you will notice it. think the biggest thing you will notice is when you have a flat tyre on the side of the road and suddenly realise that you left your spare wheel in the house as you no longer have anywhere for it to sit as the lpg fuel is there.
as for work involved in fitting it i dont know

i have had 3 cars in the last 8/9 years all on lpg,currently a 95 gle t5. it's not cheap to get car converted properly upwards of £1500 and there are many companies where they wear bigggggggg stetsons and spurs. on the 3rd attempt i have found a great company in east london, the previous 2 have gone bust as far as i know. yes there is a 2nd tank and that is generally fitted in the spare wheel well, down side of course is the spare wheel where do you put it? well i bought a space saver wheel and just bung it in the boot bit of a pain but not so painful as payin a £1 a litre for unleaded, i'm currently paying 48.9 at my local morisons. they reckon there is a small loss in power but doubt if many would notice it. and ofcourse if you did suddenly feel the urge it's just a flick of a switch on the dash and you will be running on petrol.
so overall as far as i'm concerned LPG is the only way to go

Actually an article I read recently said that if set up correctly you could actually benefit from a small power increase using LPG on a turbo. Something to do with the charge cooling benefit of LPG and better atomization as it's already a gas. The test vehicles mapping was quite highly tuned though.

Mine's running on LPG, cost £1700, its been totally worth while, I'm getting about 200miles to £20.

yep i agree there, i also get 200 on £20 but where i go i pay 43.9 so it is well worth while, i was luckily enough to buy mine already converted so i have no extra expense with regard to getting it fitted it was already done, and all i have done is to have it serviced once in 18 months, so put me down for a big yes to LPG...:wavey:
