anyone have anyideas what this is

my mate has a 53 plate s60 D5 and it goes into a kind of limp mode if you boot it.
up on the dash comes engine service required.
it goes into limp mode at around 3600 4000 rpm.

i put a diagnostics tool on it and the following messages were found (fault code)

turbo / sup wastegate solenoid A range/ performance

i cleared the code but when i gave it a good rev when driving it againg it kicked in and the same message appeared.

any ideas?has this happened before and if so is it easy to sort out.

could be the waste gate sticking... pressure building up...or the switch that controls the gate/pressure...

i had this on my Vito Van 110CDI. was the switch, i took the pipe off the turbo that comes from the switch and blew down it, and the gate opened and shut, so wasn't the gate, it turned out to be the switch.

Boost Control Solenoid.

Yes it's over boosting. It's either the BCS (cheap), or the vanes sticking in the turbo. (expensive)

my friend had this, replaced the fuel filter and all was well!
