Mate has a S40 98 model & when he unlocks the car with the fob there is
a second or so delay between - button press & clunk, doors open.

He pressed the fob & before the clunk he tried to open the boot.

The boot release button stayed pressed in & the only way he could get it
to pop back out was by inserting the key & wiggling it out.

However, whilst doing this he heard a 'ping' & know the release button goes
in & out with no resistance it also doesnt open the boot anymore.

Any suggestion on a quick fix or is it a crow bar job & a new bootlid?

If the rear seats pull forward you can climb in with a torch and remove the trim panel to gain access . Whether you can do this on volvos i have no idea :)

Yep,seems the only way. The rear seats should definitely fold. It's an eventuallity that's built into all designs,so shouldn't be too difficult. Just a pain in the a**e :buttkick:
