What are the possible causes of oil on the spark plugs.
Any help or ideas much appreciated.

Are you talking about the top side of them where the leads go onn or the part thats inside the engine itself ?

I know that the breather hose on the top of the block can come loose and let oil out and it goes everywhere, it happened to me last week :(

where the spark electrode is you mean? hmmm thats not so good, it's definately oil? and not the engine running to rich so they are all black looking? if it's oil possibly it's the valve guide seals letting it in does the car smoke at all? specially on start up from cold say after it's sat overnight?

Only 2 of the plugs were oily the other 3 were black and sooty.
Not much smoke on starting when its cold

possibly not oil just to much fuel/running rich due to the light being on showing some sort of fault making car run to rich hence black n sooty plugs.

i'm gettin my flash code reader gizmo back tomorrow heading your way 22nd/23rd if all else fails
