I'm off to the South of France on Friday with a fully packed car and three passengers. What should the tyre pressures be on 18's? The tyres are 225 40's. My manual doesn't say as the 2001 never came with 18's.

Thanks!

Mark

No, mines gone walkies! I usually do it from my Dads but no mention of 18's again!

Unloaded I usually go for 38psi front 36psi on rear (17" rim) and when its loaded increase the rear to 38psi and seemed pretty good.

That seems high for unloaded (unable to check at present).

I got my guidance from this list about half way down it shows the V70 t5 recommended pressures http://www.thetyrepressuremonitor.com/tyrepressures_volvo.html

i have 215*45*17 and they tend to look slightly 'flat' on the front if they are much lower and its noticeable in the responsiveness of the steering too

Thanks mate but that doesn't go up to my model year. I think they are the classics. I must admit 38 does seem high but going by the s60 figures on there you would be right.

Fully loaded for high speed driving should be 38 psi all round for up to 160kmh.
That is from my 2003 V70 D5 and covers tyre sizes up to & including 18 inch.
BTW your tyre size is incorrect. 235/40R18 is correct for P2s but it won't make any difference.

Have a good holiday

Brilliant, thanks.

Yes, I had been told that by someone else as well. I wasn't sure so I called Volvo direct and asked them and they said the best ones to get were the 225's. So not sure what the right answer is? Hey ho I'm sure they will do.

Thanks again

If you had bought a 60 with Nebs on it would have come with 235/40 tyres from the factory.

Go figure.
