Good Evening,

I need some urgent help/advice for my T5 Geartonic.

I picked up my S60 T5 on Fri, and I've noticed that when driving lightly, 3rd gear seems to hold revs allot.

If I lift off slightly it goes into 4th no problem.

When I accelerate with the throttle half down, there’s no problem.

There are no clunks or nasty knocks whatsoever, and appears to be 3rd only.

Please try and put me out of my misery, advice welcome.

Cheers,
Mark

I don't have a T5 nor a geartronic ... but see if it's in sports mode (the gearbox). There'll be a "sports" and a "winter" button (my V40 labels them S and W) if the gearbox has these modes.

In sports mode it'll favour a lower gear for more instant power.

If it ain't that, I haven't got a clue.

I am not sure if it is the same with the S60 geartronic but the P1 V70 Auto (which is where my knowledge of non-manuals starts and ends) has an adaptive gearbox which 'learns' your driving style. It may be the same with yours and the previous owner liked to keep the revs up in 3rd.

Unplug the battery for a while may/should do it.

This is by no means a definitive answer

*** LATEST NEWS ***

Well I visited my local Volvo specialist this morning, he ran diags and updated the car with two bits of software.

Amazing when the car was being re-programmed, the zenons were lighting up, and adjusting all by themself as the software was updating :wow:

Checked all oils, and they were perfect, I then left for the 40 mins drive home.. and hey presto the problem is no more.

I'm a very happy chappy and have to thank Bob @ The Riverway Workshop in Harlow, Essex.

thank you for all your input.

Cheers,

Mark
