As above,

Now I am the sort of guy who likes to research everything before I do anything Stupid (Not that it stops me being stupid. I just know in advance). As I wanted my car remapped I thought I'd do some digging to see what it involved and all that blah,

Any how got put on to the KWP2000+ flash tool which clearly states that it does the bosch edc15c3 ecu. I bought it about a year ago and it would not read my ecu!!!!

After much searching of many sites I found out that Volvo are not obdII compliant and that I was screwed, but me being me I did some more research and worked out that from the diagrams supplied by www.allcarracing (much begging required thanks guys) and the V40 wiring diagram with a bit of jiggery pokery I could read my ecu safely!

Now remember this was after a years research not on the spur of the moment.

Any how, plugged in all leads, turned on the laptop, turned the ignition to position two, opened up the programme and YEAH! it read my ecu no problems I watched in awe as the data streamed seamlessly from my car to my laptop, I saved the file and followed the instructions which said to turn off for one minute, I did, I then turned the car ign back on nothing happened so I turned everything off and unplugged all leads. then I turned the car back on and started the eng.....

OH Flugal binders........

The engines turns but doesn't catch what the hell?

Turned all off and plugged in all leads, ign to position 2 and laptop on programme running, Yes ecu detected but no flash in the rom, The bloody thing had wiped the ecu's eeprom. mow the programme can't put the file back in as it needs a programme from the eeprom to compare to stop ppl from flashing a wrong prog.

I am now stuck with a v40 that's no more use than a paperweight and a pregnant wife that told me if this went wrong she'd castrate me with the baby nail clippers!!!!

Phoned Hamish at HLM and he was his usual self (anybody who has spoken to him will know what I mean) and he told me to send him ecu and he would see what he could do. I sent him the ecu and a copy of the original read that I got saved.

He phoned me and asked if I wanted a remap so I said why not.

Got my ecu back and plugged it in, fingers crossed, turn the key, LIFE!
The bloody thing burst to life first turn and put a great big smile on my face, and saved my gentleman's danglers.

So the moral of the story is DO NOT try and enter the dark areas of the specialist. and do not annoy pregnant women they have evil minds.

Thanks HAMISH.
