can't say i've ever been a fan of Sony tbh (never tried one either tho). Surprised about the Pioneer, mate used to have a Pioneer demo car which even had a mic that plugged in & the system set its self up. I always like Kenwood so probably look into them, just depends how much there touch screen ones are

All the boxes are now complete, just need to seal the joints inside, also got on with the wiring today. To neaten it up a bit i've ran the amp wires inside the box, got to get another installation kit tho for the 3rd amp. Earth wires done, mount the fuse box then the powers done. Just remote trip, RCA leads then the amp-sub wires to get them running

fusebox fitted & wired, not overly happy that i haven't got one with the cover but with the spare blocking it nothing can get near it anyway. Not sure what they make the rear valance out of either because i couldn't drill a hole in it, had to mount it on the side panel instead. Remote lead, phono leads, seal the boxes & there done then :)

at my pace probably another year or 2 lol. Just want the subs running at the minute, with the bass blocked i think the factory mids/highers will improve enough to keep me happy. I've found all the speaker adaptors to fit Vibe components, but the components are £100 a set (3sets) so in no panic to do them yet lol

smithson007
Tuesday 11th October 2011, 21:24
Lol. Sounds about more sort of pace when it comes to the car. Got a list of stuff i want to do and the cash but just cant be bothered with it at the min.
Yes a 100 quid a set soon adds up when you need 3 of them but like you said the factory ones should be good enough for now.

p fandango
Saturday 15th October 2011, 20:16
we have bass, only found enough speaker wire to put in 2 subs for now (hunt for wire continues tomorrow). Turning the bass down from the factory speakers has improved the mid/high sound no end, the 2 x 12's are nicely balanced but can rattle the car a bit too much when turned up. No match for my old 15's but a big improvement over the factory system :)

New lights much better in performance, look good with the HIDS too, some modifications needed to loom but I found a way with chopping anything, ended up performing open heart surgery on old lights and transplanting the connections into new lamps, saves time and stress big time.

153585 = 19/05/09

Try drilling a 1mm hole in his shunt like I have , so far no issues despite what some internet stuff says. The ECM is nice and cool with no overheat issues etc.IF you need a shunt, I have a spare lurking somewhere in my "bits" box.

They look bright enough but you gotta decide if they're practicle for the application. No point hanging on with them if they really don't serve the purpose. How come they have to build to full brightness? Father in laws lexus comes on immediately, as does Wobbly's (although one of Wobbly's blew a ballast when I saw them).

i've only ever used £30 HID kits from fleabay & all take a while to build up to full brightness (dipped not as bad as the mains thinking about it tho). Tried using them on the road, by the time they'd built upto full brightness a car comes the other way so had to turn them off again lol. I'm on nights soon so see how it goes then

Admittedly, the R has about 20 more bhp per ton than a standard T5 BUT with a remap and the lower weight of a standard V70/S60 the T5 has 1 more bhp but only 2 boots to lose power through :D (and a smaller chance of leaving bits of metal, showered across the start line pmsl).

just read through your whole thing - all 19 pages - how sad am I :P
I have a 53 plate S60 and have HID's and LEDs pretty much everywhere and no warning messages :)
wish I got that MPG though - only 33.45 in my 2.0T (calculated using app on my phone).
My BMW 530d with 127k now never got close - currently shows 33.4!!!!! I dislike that car very much and its put me off diesels as well as my mondeo tddi which just broke every part as it went.
Although has to be said my brother had a 54 plate facelift d5 V70 auto and that was very nice and not to bad on fuel even with my brother driving.
Part of me thought I should get a D5 but I wanted simplicity of petrol :)
I do alot of miles though. Bought mine with 72036 on 5th jan. now on 74873. Did 10k in the BMW between July and getting the Volvo and 8k in the mondeo between 1st march and early July when I got the BMW and that spent so much time on the drive I added 3k to my dads car :P

your lucky, my other project threads over 100pages lol. Thanks for taking the effort to read it all, i'm surprised you've not got any warnings as my old mans 53 wasn't happy with anything & went into a strop with the slightest thing
