£1500 isnt a bad price as long as its got good service history and everything is up to scratch.
The things to look for or ask about is when was the timing belt last changed also the clutch etc there cheep enough if you can do it your self but starts to get expensive when your paying some one to do it for you also how much tax and test is left and whats the tyres like.

To get an idea of prices try searching for 850R or 850 T5R on ebay then checking the completed listings.

I think, personally, you may have to up your price in mind to secure the car if you really want it.

Yeah it looks a nice motor but the timing belt has done nearly 50k and i would want to change it i know volvo say every 80k or 8 yrs but i always do myne every 40k or 4 yrs also the wheels need a refurb and theres lacqure peel which needs sorting.
So unless its me not liking to pay lots i dont think £1500 is a bad price.

You cannot compare auto and manual 850R's, two totally different cars in terms of spec and equipment...

i have bought a M3 hence the volvo is for sale
in the book volvo have stamped it saying next cam belt change due at 160k
the last 2 850R's that sold on ebay were both auto's and higher miles than my car so i would expect mine should go for more
i put it on pistonheads @ £2495 which i feel is very respectable given that the only other manual R estate i saw at the time was £3995 on auto trader
my car is not a dog or sum rusty rot box
i even had sum joker offer me £1200
