On a phase 2 V70 T5, with geartronic box if that makes a difference, what should the idle speed be (fully warm of course) ?

Don't know for definite - guessing about 800RPM.

But then Rome wasn't built on guesswork!

Right, mine is 700-750 rpm according to the car's tacho. I'll check it with OBDII aswell. I think it's too low.

I presume the idle speed is controlled by the ECU and has a setpoint which can be changed ? Anyone know how to change it ?

you can adjust the baseline tickover from the throttle housing....

Thanks, but can this be done on phase 2 (ME7) engines ? If so, can you provide more details ?

I dunno but the volvo 960 has the exact same adjusting screw in the same place as the one on the 1996 850 throttle housing, so possibly. It's a little 6mm ish locknut and screw jobby near the spring that returns the butterfly to closed. I can take a pic of mine, so you can compare, if you want....

Thanks chaps. Still can't see any way to adjust the tickover on my throttle module. Me thinks this is a software only setting...

Do autos not tickover slightly lower to reduce creeping?

my new one sits perfectly between the 600 and 700 marks, cant be anymore accurate as the needle is the width of the gap in the marks!

I would'nt be concerned mate, if it feels and sounds happy....

Not sure about autos being slightly lower - maybe.

It does occassionally feel a little lumpy at idle though, so was wondering what the correct setting should be.
