Headlights dont work from switch

Its my mates 98' V40, when you put the lights on from the switch, you get the side lights but no low or high beam. The high only works from the flasher, I said to get another switch even second hand, but he took it to his local guy who said it wont be that.

I was at him yesterday and we tried other fuses and bulbs but there all fine, has anyone any ideas what it might be. He's not on the net so cant cant look for answers himself.

You think its that too, I said that to him, but the guy he uses seemingly said it wouldnt be, I say to him to try another.

Switch....relay perhaps....being a 98 I doubt he has the ability to disable DRL or anything so most likely switch or relay....I am sure I have a switch kicking about somewhere. I'll have a look tonight :)
