I was surprised quite just how much difference wheels make to a car. I bought a set of fairly knackered 17" alloys on eBay for £50 a couple of weeks ago. After sanding and spraying, they're finally on. Total wheel cost: £90 including sandpaper and paints.
Here's a before & after:
Before: standard 15" steel rims with hub caps, 195/55/15 tyres.

After: Alessio (who?) 17" alloys, 205/40/17 tyres.

Now, my restoration job isn't quite professional, but aside from a couple of lumps, it's half decent. Because I'm a cheapskate I didn't want to spend half the value of the car on wheels!
