I just rang up to let the insurance company know I was changing my wheels and they only wanted to charge an extra £74 on to my premium and a £15 admin fee! I'm halfway through the years insurance so presumably it would have been about £150 extra a year!

Thats unbelievable! I've already got a £800 excess due to the other mods. My insurance is only £450 but still.

I eventually argued it with the supervisor telling them that the wheels were still Volvo wheels just different design. They agreed to just put it as a note on the policy. They gave in immediately. if I hadn't argued it I would have been charged all that extra money.

Ok Rant over. I think I need to change insurance companies. Maybe I should try one of the ones on here. Any suggestions?

Cheers
Mark

Hi Mark, wheels look superb by the way! I insure the S70 with Adrian flux, every single mod declared (which is a hefty few now!), costs me £295 a year!

Adrian Flux and Greenlight are good for mods.

If you do go with Adrian Flux watch out for the £60 admin fee they seem to want to drop on you for the slightest of variations.

just shows its worth challenging these insurance companies...

ive used Chris Knott this year for both cars and got a good deal on the policies, and there is a note on the policy about my wheels with no change to the fee. Give them a try.:wavey:

second chris knott. cost £200 ish for the first mod (rica280)- all the rest have been free.
Easy to deal with. Even ring me up to remind me to renew.

I only ever call three firms these days - Adrian Flux, Greenlight, Chris Knott. One of them always comes up trumps. Greenlight don't mind me changing the mods list mid-year for a reasonably small admin fee.
