The garage at the rear of where i work have a very good spray painter.

He was doing some wheels the other day and they are like new wheels i kid you not :)

He told me he will paint my wheels any colour i want for £25 a wheel, bargain or what ? Usually he charges up to £60 a wheel depending on size but 16's tend to be around the £40 mark.

Question is what colour wheels look good on a Silver car

Any ideas guys ?

I cant afford bigger wheels so may as well make the best of what ive got ;)

The wheels he was painting at the time were like a speckled Gunmetal Grey, they looked brill but not sure about that colour with a silver car

I'l try and get some piccys on tuesday of the colour he's done them.

It's down to individual taste, but I do like dark wheels on light coloured cars.
I think you'd be alright with anthracite or gunmetal grey.

Silver or anthrasite bud, but i would consider powder coating over spray? just my 2 peneth!

Why's that ?

Is powder coating a better coating ? More durable ?

Cheap job for £100 and they look mint :D

Powder coating is a far harder finish, but its not as shiny I think they also can build up the coatings so there is no blemishes were they were scuffed. My V70 is powder coated but the V40 wheels are away to get sprayed it’s suppose to be a really glossy finish but we will see how they turn out because the condition of them are terrible.

anthrasite looks perfect on a silver car, ive done it twice
they will contrast the black plastic rubbing strips and bumpers
everyone has silver, be different :mischievo

Painting wheels is fine if using 2k, should be hard enough. I've painted a few sets of wheels in the past without problems.

£25 per wheel sounds pretty good, most places will charge around £40+ per wheel.

I'd go with silver, anthracite/gunmetal or black.

I'll be in the same boat with mine when I come to change the wheels, but I'll most likely go for some Volans or Tritons (would probably keep those std, but could be tempted to paint the centres anthracite).

Dark silver of some sort.Either gun metal or anthracite. It will make a subtle difference without standing out too much.£25 is a bargin to! Post up a pic of the wheels when they are done.

Personally if you go with black, only paint the spokes/centre section of the wheel and leave the outer rim silver or even better polished as this will break up the black wheel from the tyre and not look to over powering. I have this on mine even though not standard alloys you can see the effect. As previously stated it is down to personal preference.http://i195.photobucket.com/albums/z56/bosscat315/Volvo/PHOT0082.jpg

IMHO lee, i dont think your 16s can carry off the black and polished rim look.
the rim will enhance their small size but full black will mask them and look bigger.
the TSWs on my alfa were only 16s but looked huge.

Ive found a T5 the same colour as mine and the overall look, with black wheels is pretty smart.

Think i'll do mine exactly the same as this :B_thumb:

Me personally I'd go for anthracite. I don't think black suits the Columba's very well, not in that pic above anyway.

I quite like the look of that car with the black wheels ( Maybe with red calipers behind ) along with the windows they make it look quite mean but not flash :D

Instead of whitewall tyres, paint a 1 inch silver line around the tyre where it
meets the rim so it looks like your running 17's lol
