Hi All,

Changing Outer CV gaiter.I need to buy correct socket.

I measure 37mm. Is this right for a 1997 T5?

Cheers

think it's 36mm iirc mines a 95 t5, and it's quite tough to get the hub of see if you can borrow a decent semi hydraulic 2/3 legged puller makes the job soooooooooooooooo much easier upwards of £50 on ebay. Something like this

Cheers folks!

When I took the drive shaft out of the transmission, a little oil came out. Anything to worry about? Are there any seals I need to know about? The Haynes manual does not mention any.

Aslong as it was only a drop wouldn,t worry to much.If you are concerned undo the filler nut to the gearbox bend a cabletie 90degrees and dip it into the gearbox the oil should be just under that filler hole.Thats on a manual not sure about autos.Ther is a seal on the gearbox where the driveshaft goes in they general ok though.Just make sure driveshaft is all the way home when assembling.

Cheers for that.

It's an autobox. The oil was very black and gloopy... looked like engine oil to me. Quantity was sufficient to cover the base of a washing bowl by about 5mm. The fluid level in the automatic transmission looks fine to me. Is there any thing else I should check?

if it's auto just check it on the dipstick when u are dun, there is a seal there but just reasonable care and make sure the shaft is well home when reasembling. think there is a level plug on side of gearbox for manuals again just check its level when you are dun
