I has the Wheels off the other day to check the brakes and the like ive got the dreaded MOT in 3 weeks :jaw:

The inside wall of the tyre was covered in Brake fluid

The seal on the piston is half way out and leaking quite bad

Is it worth finding a decent 2nd hand one or just buy a reconditioned one ?

The local breakers ( well 10 miles away ) has 3 T5's in.

They quoted me £15 for the calliper, or a seal kit from Rufe is about £14 then theres labour to replace the seals on the piston.

Anything to look out for with buying used callipers ?

Cheers Guys

The only thing to look out for is the rubbers being split but imho i think you would be best getting a new seal kit there easy to change over just make sure theres no pitting on the caliper pot.

fitted 2nd hand calipers plenty of times in the past but the key to this discussion is how long do you intend to keep the car?

if your selling in the next year, 2nd hand caliper, cheapest, easiest.
if you don't know, seal kit as they are pretty quick and easy to do.
if you're going to be buried in it replace with new.

simples :)

I've just had to fit a new caliper to mine, after my track day.

I paid £57 for it exchange, I got £17 back, so £40 all it
