i went to courteney sport a vauxhall specialist to watch my brother run his tuned astra turbo on there new rollers and for the sake of £35 i thought i would run the volvo.

but after speaking to the guy he was unsure of what sort of results they would get as its an auto but he was confident he could get me wheel power
the first run he put it in to 4th sat it at 40mph and planted the accelerator and to his suprise it kicked down but he kept it planted untill it reached 135mph in 4th.
before the second run i explained how far the pedal goes before it kicks down but it did exactly what it did on the first run!

but the results show at the wheels 248.40bhp with a 269.34 torque figure peaking at 105mph
the problem is he was unsure what to make of the result as hes never done an auto on his new roller and does not work with autos as all the modded vauxhalls he deals with are manuals so is there someone that could shed some light on it?

cheers

Usual procedure with the 4 speeders is to run it in winter mode locked in 3rd.

ive been searching the internet for hours and from what i can make out is the power figure will be no higher with it kicking down to 3rd its just that you get a horrible graph.

can anyone confirm this?

The power figure should be about the same, the reason to use the higher gear is so that the turbo isnt chasing the engine revs, for example if you did it in 1st gear the turbo would not have spooled up properly by the time you hit the red line, it would be giving boost but it would be a false reading.

The change down just gives you a lumpy graph it wont really effect the power figure. You can only get WHP on an auto anyone who quotes crank figure on an auto box is talking ££££££££.

just the sort of reply i wanted cheers
so im quite happy that for a standard car with no mods with 150k on the clock is about right in terms of power although considering its only supposed to be 265bhp there isnt a lot of transmission loss

I'm assuming the blue is the torque curve on that. Looks like a good graph, you should be happy with that.
