Smell of petrol

My niece has an L REG 850 SALOON....recently it has begun to have a petrol smell apparently coming through the front heater vents,particularly when about 5 gallon in the tank...it is quite strong.She has had the breathers cleaned out and there are no obvious leaks.......ANY SUGGESTIONS WELCOME.

my old alfa 155 did that through the vents, turned out to be a pin sized hole in the rubber fuel feed pipe under the bonnet. worth visualy checking while the cars running.

assume shes using more fuel than usual?

using a little more fuel than usual...will check the pipes..thanks for the advice.
