Boot lock not working correctly

The boot lock on my 850 t5 estate is malfunctioning in as much that it will work sometimes with the remote...then it doesnt...i can lock it manully and all the other doors lock but then when i unlock from the drivers door manually the alarm goes off.....so i leave the boot unlocked and the remote works fine on all the doors......deeerrrrrr doing my flippin head in.....lock works fine when taken out of the boot lid and just plugged in but when replaced doesnt help......please

Tailgate lock solenoids do go dead. Mine has the same problem. In 3 years of owning my car I'm on the 3rd lock already. (2nd hand one's). I think a new lock costs about 120.
