really depends on how far you want to go, or I should say how far back you want to go...

do you want to strip the paint back and remove all (or at least as much as you can) of the blemishes or whether your looking for a good finish.

I'm a great believer in AutoGlym products for finishing, they are generally easy to use and give impressive results, top tip from the trader is to mix half super resin polish with half extra gloss, excellent results but easy to use, the extra gloss on it's own is hard work and reduces the chalkiness you normally get with straight super resin polish :)

Theres a lot of swirls / scratches that i'd like to remove :)

I have tried Autoglym in the past with good results so maybe i'll go down that path again.

Depends on the condition of your bodywork. If your buying a polisher then first you should clay the paint to remove surface contaminates, then use a fine cutting polish to remove swirls and minor scratches then the seal the paintwork before finally waxing the bodywork.

When I did mine I used Menzerna polish, followed by Poorboy's EX-P paint sealant followed by Poorboy's Natty's paste wax blue. A combination of these products gave a really good finish from what the car used to look like. See pictures below...

okay, from the start, not very environmentally friendly but the best solvent I have found to get back to the paint is petrol, don't go daft having it running all over the place but it's the best imo...

next up, and this is where your polisher/buff comes in, 3M "Finesse-It", it's pretty much a trade product so you'll need to go to a motor factors or similar to get it, you will not get this stuff in halfrauds, not to cheap either, £20/litre ish, it's a fine finishing material so not to harsh, it may take 2-3 passes but you will appreciate the results :)

have a look in the detailing lounge for results of the 1st attempt on my AWD

I agree with Andy Menzerna polish is one of the best polishes you can buy, it breaks down very well and isn’t dusty. Drop these guys an E-Mail enquiries@polishedbliss.co.uk I always recommend them you will get the best advice possible from them on which Menzerna is best for your car and anything else your not sure about....
