Hey all,

Booking my car in for a cat back at powerflow hopefully next week but having trouble choosing a tail pipe. I've had a mooch through the powerflow products and picked out a few:

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a358/insane_in_the_brain/430-190-120-0-0-190-120.jpg

Oval comes in 2 1/2", 3" and 4"

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a358/insane_in_the_brain/406-190-120-0-0-190-120.jpg

This is 3 1/2" x 9"

http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a358/insane_in_the_brain/380-206-130-8-0-190-120.jpg

And this one :
2½" x 6"
3½" x 6"
4" x 6"
4½" x 6"
4½" x 9"

There are a load more too: http://www.powerflowexhausts.co.uk/products/tail-pipes/

I kinda like the the large pipe type one, but the guy at the powerflow dealer reckons it would look odd because of the cut out on the bumper, and he's suggest an oval like the 1st image.

Opinions pleasey

I'd go with the stock-esque oval look. Nothing worse than a silly large tail pipe.

Go for Oval if you can get it, mine has a large round on it now but I don't like it, would much sooner have an oval.

The exhaust is a Ferrita, not sure what the size is as I've not measured it (sure someone else will know), if I had to guess I'd say 3-4".

I have a rectangular one on mine, it fills the complete cut out,

I have 4" oval tip on my 854R.

I'd also go for Longlife Exhaust over Powerflow any day for a custom one. I know Powerflow used to only go upto 2 1/4" pipe diameter, where as you really need 2.5" or 3" if you want to go crazy, and this is a stock tube at Longlife the last time I checked with them.

The top pic.3 or 4" slash cut would suit the car,its very standard looking and not too look at me! Garys looked nice with the flat oval, twins look a bit out of place IMO.Round peg. square hole i ya know what i mean.

With you on that one pal. I have it booked in for a week thursday and had a word with the chap thats doing it and said i can try the different pipes against the car beforehand :) So will annoy him with my indecision

Also, can you have 3" pipe from the cat back or is that a stupid thing to say?

i would go for 4" oval imho it looks the best. i have got a stupid big oval tail pipe on my 855R its part of my 2 1/2" custom cat back with a 3" 100 cell cat.
tail pipe looks a bit chav tastic but sounds great :D

That's what i am doing except it is going to be 3", might be a tad too loud though,

Ahh good man! What sort of sound do you get?

I've asked for a straight through centre to back box, apparently it won't be "in your face" loud but a deep rumble.

When I got mine it had the standard, albeit rotten, square trim. I then had that replaced with a new standard Volvo trim which when I bought it was told the only one you can now get is an oval trim. This was then replaced with a round pipe when I had my Ferrita fitted. I have since had the tip replaced with a square trim which I think looks best on the 850 closely followed by the oval. I wouldn't go for the round one over any of those others on offer and if I had to choose from the ones you posted it would be the oval one. ;)

its not too loud but i have been told by a mate with a scooby (when i overtook him) it is LOUD when its at full throttle in 4th. i love the sound not too much louder than stock at low revs. if you are anywhere near here i will take you for a spin if you want to hear it for yourself.

Im not going to argue with you! ;) Didn't realise you had a personal plate on the car, was it you who tried to get production numbers out of Volvo UK last year for the grey R's? :)

yes it was me i never really got much info from the dvla i think they thought i was doing something dodgy!
am led to believe there are less than 10 gunmetal manual R's (inc 855's and 854's) left on road in uk.
i cant remember who told me this as i spoke to several people. think it might have been someone on a forum.

think its on a post somewhere. it was putting out 237 bhp and 253 lbft torque think it will be a bit less at the mo cos it needs a service and the injectors cleaned.
you ever had yours on a dyno?

sorry Dan850T5 for hijacking your thread!!!
