Im taking the plunge and lowering the car this week on R springs.

Its not a great deal lower about 20mm iirc

Is there anything i should look out for or any problems i may come across ?

Will i need the tracking doing again although i wont be touching the track rod ends ?

I'll post up comparison piccys although there wont be much difference.

The only difference will be the the groan i let out when getting in and out :D

Cheers guys any help appreciated.

Lee :D

The tracking should be checked and adjusted, as the suspension will have been apart.

I agree get the tracking done. Apart from that nothing just learn to get used to the tyres rubbing on full lock. You learn not to put the car on full lock mate after a while...........:wallbash:

For the 850 or P1 V70 lowering kits are 40mm lower than standard this is without doing anything to the inner arches.
Hope this helps....

The R has steering restrictors . So if you put R springs [and your dampers are suitable for lowered car,]you will rub more on the inner bits of suspension

Suck a boiled sweet or 200mg of Ibuprofen.

TBH 20mm you wont notice much difference anyway, though I think R springs may be a tad lower than 20mm. I got Eibachs and that makes 35-40mm lower - no problems with clearance except driving up to kerbs forwards it bumps the spoiler or subframe e.g at the supermarket. You just get used to it same as sports car drivers the world over.

A standard T5 is 1410mm from floor to roof line ( wothout roof bars )

A T5R or an R is 1390mm for the same guide lines as above.

20mm of a difference :B_thumb:

I'll get the tracking checked out once ive done it :D

Hi lee the only things thats a sod is the linkege rods with the star bit in the middle just make sure you dont make the mistake i did and snap the end of the star bit in it just give it a squirt with plus gas appart from that there a pretty easy, just be carefull when taking the spring clamps off i would cheack the strut top mounts as they tend to wear possibly a good idea to change them as well while its striped down there not very expensive.
I havent had my tracking done since i lowered myne and havnt noticed and unsual wear in the tyre when i had the r springs on myne i didnt notice any problem on full lock if you need any help give me a ring

Mine are fairly new pete so they dont spin :B_thumb:

Just a spanner no Torque bits needed :D

Need to replace the track rod ends as well but i wont move the nut so should still be ok.

Ill get it checked out though, its only £10, better safe than sorry :)

Mines lowered 35ish mm on eibachs. Not really that noticable to look at but handling is transformed!! Adding a strut brace made even more difference, reduced torque steer and more fun in the corners. No probs apart from the mentioned above.Good luck mate.

True, its hard to tell, but it feels much bnetter to drive.
btw - 10 sacks of rubble on the way to the tip - I was dragging the rear mudflaps on the smallest undulations, but OK on Speed bumps taken slowly. Still pulled like a train mind but I reckon she was lowered about 5" below standard - rims level with the arches.
He he.
