Hi,

My g'friends V70 is losing fuel somewhere and I'm not sure where. £15 of fuel only lasted 50 miles :(

I've checked the fuel filter and it's not that, nor is it a leak in any pipework.
I have been told that it could be a problem with the cat. Is that likely to cause it?

I haven't checked the trip but I know something isn't right. It's off down the garage this morning to see what the problem is.

£15 is about 16.5 litres ( at £0.90 per litre) = approx 3.7 gallons.

50 miles divided by 3.7 gallons = 13.5mpg.

Depending on driving style and type of driving that might be about right. If its start stop rush hour stuff my S60 would be about that. If its long constant motorway work then yes its well down.

The nice thing about leaking fuel is that you can smell it, petrol stinks. If you had a genuine fuel leak you would be in no doubt about it.

my v70 t5 is returning 18.6 mpg according to trip computer, that's just stop/start driving too and from work 2 miles away and taking the dogs out, so it's quite expected

Check the fuel cap seal is intact! It may have fallen off!

Could be evaporating!
