I need to remove one of my headlamps. Is it possible to do this without taking off the bumper ?

Think not I'm afraid! Did we drop something?

Give me a clue as there are tricks to get at some spots!

Well i broke the bulb holder for one of the indicators & part of it is now floating inside the lamp with the bulb. The only way i can think of getting it out is to remove the headlamp & tipit out.

Wrap a screwdriver (long as will fit) "backwards" with tape, any kind.

Gaffer is best, tho masking or even sellotape would do.

Slide it gently along the bottom edge, you'll get the bit!

p.s. by backwards, I of course mean "sticky side out".

Thanks badger. That sounds worth a try. I'll have a go over the w/e if it ain't too cold!

A "sticky brush" was what I used to call it, if the tape is narrow enough, just a loop stuck to the tip of a flathead is best, use it like a paint brush to sweep the surface.

If it's the idicator tho, tight wound, cross tip. The corners are too tight!

Use a torch to look in & try & see where it is first, the first contact with the tape is the best.

Super Glue is another option - on a long thin screwdriver...

Yeah, but once you've smeared it all over the inside of the lense.... how would we be getting this off?

Tape, used properly will work without any difficulties!

Yes, make sure you don't get it on anything you don't want it on!

That said, as it's a contact adhesive, only a tiny amount is needed and it's strong enough to carry a lot of weight, so a tiny blob would suffice. Tape is the better option though - if it's strong enough.

I think i'll have to resort to removing the headlamp. I couldn't get a screwdriver in as access is too limited so I used a large cable tie instead. But i couldn't get it to stick sufficiently to lift the bulb up anywhere near the opening. :frown:

What side is the light on, you can remove the washer pipe on the drivers side or remove the air box on the passenger side...

Easy access then!

Did you consider a hoover hose gaffer taped to a length of garden hose?

Use suction to pick it up & pull it out?

#1 open bonnet and you will see 5 or 6 clips, press the middle on the clips down until it clicks, then lift out.

#2 carefully remove the rub strips by gently pulling at the corner (be very careful not to break the clips) once removed on both sides you will see a 13mm bolt, remove bolt.

#3a for cars with pressure washers like mine in pic, pull the cover out and carefully unclip cover.

#3b for cars with headlamp wipers, flip up cover at shaft end, remove 8mm nuts, carefully wiggle and pull wiper arm off, pull washer pipe of from the wiper arm.

#4 unscrew t25 torx screw and press in. now starting from one side (find someone to help) pull the bumper forward.

It's the drivers side & i did remove the washer bottle pipe. Still not enough room. I'll give the hoover idea a go & if that doesn't work i'll take the bumper off. Thanks for help :B_thumb:

Sweet dude, I think you'll do well with a suction hose.

I thought it was part of the bulb, or the holder, not the whole bulb!

You'll do ok with a hoover/vacum!

Done it! Need a new bulb holder now though. Managed to do it by just removing one side of the bumper & leave the other side on. Thanks for help :B_thumb:
