Stereo "OFF"

just bought a 96 AWD 850 but radio just shows "OFF" on the display didn't get any of the books with the car so no idea what this means/how to fix it, anyone?

Have you go the code for it at all?

You need to plug it in then leave your ignition in Acc I until it displays code, then enter the code and hey presto :D

'OFF' means that the code has been entered wrong 3 times.

Like enigma has said, leave it position 1 overnight, and it should reset and display CODE again.

If you haven't got the code, you can call Volvo up and give the serial number and your car ID code and they'll give you the code.

Unless the code as been entered wrongly on a number of occasions (ie 3 times, then another 3 times, then another 3 times...), in which case leaving it on overnight won't help, you need to take the radio out and send it away...!

so will Volvo provided it free of charge? (I like that idea being a tight scotsmans ;))

and car id? do you mean chassis no?

Well, you can phone up Volvo and give them the reg....they should give you the code...if not then the serial number off the radio can be used :D
