Hi guys, after leaving my 850 T5 (1995) standing for a week - it no longer starts!

Anyone got any tips on what it could be:
Battery is fully charged.
Cam sensor replaced.
Fuel Relay replaced.
OBDI - diagnostic unit does NOT give any codes in either port A2 or port A6.
(Not even 1-1-1). However, port A7 gives me 1-2-2 (temp sensor interval too long). Port A3 gives 4-2-4 and 1-4-4 (ABS related).

It's strange that I can't even get 1-1-1 on port A2 or A6, this has always worked in the past.

I don't hear the fuel system pressure up - and there's no spark at the plugs...but if one of the sensors that prevent the ECU sending a spark has gone - I would expect to be able to read which one from the diagnostic unit!?

I could _guess_ and start replacing fuel pump, coil, rpm sensor - but hoping someone knows why the ECU won't give any codes first!

thx

I had this on my old car and i had to replace the coil pack.

Cheers and good luck

Sounds like the coil to me, although i could be wrong.

Try taking the lead off and cleaning it with a bit of WD40 and replacing it making sure its a good fit.

Cheers

I'll certainly give it a go - but I wasn't getting a spark so I'm not hopeful :-/

If no fuel pump prime, then look at fuel pump relay , or more importantly- main relay. No prime = no ecu power up.

I don't hear the fuel system prime, perhaps that's why the ECU isn't giving any codes or powering up. I have already changed the fuel relay though... I'll try the main relay.

It was the (fuel) main relay, part 3545803, located above the radiator (not the relay near the fuse-box).

starter motor? mine turned over before and cause there was play in the shaft of the started it was sending a spurious signal back to the ecu not letting it start, but only way of finding out is change starter or get an oscillosope and that will show it up, or take it somewhere where they have an oscilloscope.

First thing I did when I got my car was to take all the relays apart and check and resolder all the joints.

Out of curiosity have you tried bump starting this car either on tow or push. Depeding if it starts or not will narrow down your options dramatically.

Have you tried wiggling key in ignition or trying different key, did you unlock car with Fob?

Could be imbolilser on, (had it on a Pug, changed aerial around ignition barrel and worked fine). Also well worth trying a Bump/Tow start, incase its Starter problem (Just make sure you can park it afterwards).
