Hi,

Just a quick one really, i understand that some people on here are not the biggest fan of induction kits.

So just after peoples thought should i go and get an induction kit or just a itg panel filter. if you do say induction what type woul you say is best, as i cannot seem to find any for the t6... might not be looking in the correct place

I am going for the rica 320 in the very near future what do people think of these?? any good?

Also would anyone recommend get a de cat for these cars?

cheers

Mark

if you want an induction-kit there are options:

Blitz,Apexi,Bmc,etc

as for sofware i have had mine flashed by MTE(don't know whether they do

the T6

as for exhaust you can try Ferrita, again don't kno if they make 1 for the T6

hi walter, thanks for your suggestions,
would love an apexi induction kit, as i had one on my skyline and they make a great noise, but cant seem to find anywhere to bbuy them for the volvo.

Yeah seems quite tricky finding places that do performance parts for the t6..... for some reason

:)

I tested the difference between ITG and cone based induction kit and there isnt any - not performance wise.

Guess the main difference is the noise - a matter of taste - and the under bonnet bling - again quite subjective

Just a quick update.

I have just ordered the itg panel filter as im am struggling to find a cone induction kit which is made for for the t6.

Just one more question with regards chip tuning...

would you suggest getting it done by the garge or are the bsr ppc any good? as anybody had any experiance with the ppc`s at all....

Cheers once again.

IMO your not going to get any noticable performance gains from any filter.
as for noise ive even tried my t5 without a filter and it still does,nt give the 5-pot growl.
it did hiss louder though, i think turbos muffle alot of engine sounds.

The sounds are different between different filters. I have seen graphs of before and after results of many cars with only changes to filters from dynos and the reults vary quite a bit.

have a look at this

http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/

the more restrictive the standard intake is the more you'll gain with an induction kit. i have no idea how restrictive or not the S80 is. i do know the T5 is pretty good as standard.

Hi,

I have seen that test before, thats one reason why i got an apexi for my skyline, they make a pretty good sound aswell.

The problem im having getting a cone filter is the fact i cant seem to find any for the t6, hence just going for the itg panel for the time being.

Unless you guys know any place to get an induction kit..... i have been googling for a week now and come up blank.

Im not a fan of the k&n induction kit as i use to have one when i had a bmw, wasnt at all impressed seemed to loose power.

Cheers and thanks for your help

if you like the apexi just get a universal one off ebay and then use some reducers to fit.

I used a K&N panel job first on my T5, then swapped it to a BRS opti-flow. Sounds a touch mad tho! Between the turbo spool, the induction & the BOV... well you get the point.

No difference in the performance! I'd doubt you'd find a cone specific for the T6. The opti-flow has a heat sheild & a port for the plastic intake hose to fit through the sheild.

Hope you find what you're looking for!

Yeah, going to whip the apexi off the skyine and see whats needed to fit it on the volvo.

For some reason never thought of that!! Doh!

I dont have a BSR but do have a RICA 310 ppc. Its a sturdy bit of kit, very easy to use and basically the same map as the usual RICA 310 upgrade, but with the ability to downgrade back to standard.

To be honest i've seen no reason as of yet to revert it back to the standard map. However, seeing as some RICA agents charge £50 to re-upload the upgrade should it disappear for whatever reason, paying an extra £80 so I can do it myself didnt seem a bad deal.

You'll probably need to go via an agent for a decent ppc unit so they can download your standard map/upload the new one for the first time, if thats the case then a good agent will do a diagnostic etc on the car to check its okay. I used FG Automotive of Notts and they were excellent.

As often stated on here, your car should be in A1 condition prior to the upgrade as it will put a significant extra strain on the mechanicals.

Good luck.

Yeah the car is going to be in tip top shape before i do the "upgrade", got her booked in to my usual gagrage for a full service and general check up.

Just whipped off the apxi from the skyline, and just trying to make a heat shield for that.

Love the power the t6 produces anyway but im a fan of making my cars go a bit faster....

Does anybody know how much power the geartrontic boxes can take?

I'm told no more than 350bhp is good.

I don't imagine the clutch & flywheel would cope either.

Besides, any more than that & you're heading for performance rods & a bigger turbo!

I have a Rica 320 (PPC) on my T6. You can have a shotgun ride if you want to feel the difference.

Work in Bradford so not too far from leeds.

It does make a difference. It seems to pick up a lot quicker. I found if I was in second gear at around 40- 50 mph waiting to over take something on an A road it would sort of hange around a bit when you floored it until it got up the rev range a bit. Now it picks up a lot faster a keeps pulling.

However it does only really make a difference once you get over about 50 as anything under that and your just looking a loads of wheelspin so its wasted really.

PS you may not get the full fat 320 bhp as I run it on LPG. I will stick it on petrol for the test run though :-)

PPS or you could fill my my tank up 3 times with v power and once thats through then give you a full fat run lol :-) :-)

Thanks for the info, just give me a shout when your free, i can have a drive over your neck of the woods on a weekend aswell if thats easier.

Cars booked in for a service (oil and plugs / genral check up) tomorrow and typically the abs brake service light has started to come on today!!
