I'd be up for it.....

Wellingborough isn't such a bad run from Lancashire TBH.

I was working there last year. M6 / A14.

Considering the attendance at Awesome GTI today, many many folks came from further than that.

Sounds like a cracking idea....

Santa pod from mine is 158 miles :jaw:

Didnt realise it was so far.

I'll get in touch with Hamish on Monday if people are interested in a rolling road day @ HLM.

In the meantime if anybody knows of somewhere that runs the RWYB days a bit closer to the NW id be interested in hearing off of them :B_thumb:

york's 150 miles from me, the pod is 50 miles....

Not going to york, in case I kill her on the strip.... I've got way more mates that'd drag me back 50 miles than 150....

York is 155 miles, and the 'Pod is 115, so, not much in it for me.

Any problems if my mates want to tag along too?

Why dont you try Avon Park rather than santa Pod - I think it may be a little closer to your guys in the north and you get more runs there as it isn't as busy as the Pod?

great idea lee but why not do both venues?

ive done the 2NZ-modders event at york a few times and its great fun if theres a group of you.
its run in classes so your only up against similar cars not like RWYB and its on every month from easter.
theres everything from 7-second yanks to monster trucks and its only £10 to watch.
the site is a bit of a ****hole and has,nt changed since the 70s but its still a great days racing.
i,m hoping to do every 2NZ-modders event this year anyway so come along :B_thumb:

could do a donington trackzone full day for £100, you get 6 or 7, 20 minute sessions for that.
i used to do about 90 laps, thats 180 miles.

The thing is with track days is most or some of us have never been on a track and personally its something i would love to do and got to do i think it will be a really good expericance all you need is your car a helmet and a bit of candy and with a couple of months notice im sure we could save our pocket money and its a hell of a lot cheeper than the nurburg

Oooooo that's a good idea, would need a hell of a lot of notice though so I can save up enough to get prepped for it.

from a lot of experience of these just think about this.

180 miles at about 10mpg, thats about £100 in fuel.
you will probably burn out at least a couple of front tyres, so £150.
i always ran ferrodo DS3000 pads and they lasted about 4 events but the discs warped every 2.
then theres the £100 entry fee, so it,ll cost you about £400 (if you keep it on the black stuff)
you could save a bit and take it easier than me (110% all day) but i like to make the most of my day.

i hope this has,nt put a dampener on the idea, just a bit of realization.
if you still want do it, it will honestly be one of the best things youve ever done with your pants on...

This was the reason I brought up a drag day suggestion.

In reality the drag strip is about the kindest on cars, you're not at full power for long, and lack of skill isn't really going to put you in the wall.

You're unlikely to trash a set of tyres, and you'd be lucky to use a gallon of fuel even on a few runs.

Entrance fees are usually reasonable, and as a "Northern" meet York is quite accessible. (1/2 tank return from Manchester)

It also gives us a bit of "fun competition" to engage in.

I give my car the same treatment as the drag strip on a daily basis, just joining the motorway. For a car to get "hurt" on the strip it would have to be in a very poor condition before hand.

Lee. I think the YORK idea is the favourite here.

It's getting to that point where 1,000,000 suggestions start rolling in.

Some "guidance" is needed.
