I have just received this from Volvo:

Regarding the performance of our diesel engine you may be interested to
know we are introducing a new more powerful 5 cylinder diesel engine in
addition to the current D5. The engine produces 185bhp, is euro IV
compliant and is fitted with a diesel particulate filter. The engine
will be available with 6 speed manual or 6 speed Geartronic
transmission. Service intervals will increase to 18k miles. As a
performance comparison with our current D5 engine please see below (new
engine figures in brackets):

0-62: 9.8secs (8.5secs)
Top speed: 130mph (140mph)

Power per litre: 77bhp/L Audi 2.5tdi (65bhp/L)

Yes indeed. The new D5 should tune to about 230-40 bhp. If you read the Sunday Times you will see just how fast the diesel market is catching up.

Sounds delightful - apart from 350 lb/ft from 1300 rpm in a FWD [ouch].

Once rolling though, it should be a killer. How much is a new S60 D5 Sport ??
