I have spent this afternoon taking my HU-803 Radio out and trying to connect an MP3 adapter into the cd changer cable. I have failed miserably. I have spliced open the cd changer cable but I don't know which cables are the left and the right. Basically what I need is a diagram of the cable that goes from the cd changer to the HU.

Any Ideas??????????

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeease! I rang volvo and they said they weren't allowed to give out that info. nasty people.

I think you'll find that the cd changer carries data to the head unit and not left and right channels, you might be better off opening the head unit and connecting to the cassette heads.
But I stand to be corrected

Have you tried the small fm transmitter route?

Have you tried the small fm transmitter route?

Yes I have but I get fed up with having to change the frequency every 10 miles. I just want to be able to plug in and go.

I got the wiring in idea from an old thread where a user called 'dad racer' managed to do it in his P1 V70. He drew piccies and everything but the cd changer cable must be different.

If anyones got any other ideas it would be great to hear them. I want to keep the cd changer working though.

Cheers
Mark

Thanks mate that will be very useful, but I am actually after a wiring diagram of the actual din cable going from the HU to the CD changer. I know I'm being awkward, I've cut the cable and seem to have one really thick blue cable. loads of tiny white cables and 1 Brown, One orange, and 1 green cable. Any ideas? Its driving me mad!

Cheers for the help though

Mark

google it. There are a few diags out there but not sure what you need.

This is all I have. I did have a load more before the server crash but they were all found at VOC, VS etc.

Thats great guys thanks. Definitely getting close, especially that post from the other forum. If only I could find one that relates to the colours of the cables rather than the pin numbers as from I am looking I can't tell which cable goes to which pin. I will keep searching though.

Thanks again

Use a multimeter to test each wire for each pin, and write it down.

Aha, good plan that man.

However won't that mean cutting all the wires to get to the core, as there is no bloody way you could strip these small lengths mid way. It would be like shaving a flea!

I will give it a go though anyway!

Sorry bud, thought you had already cut them. If you have the sharp test probes then you can just push them slightly into the wire to get a reading.
