you will have to check the bore diameter is correct (afaik up to 2000 is 67.1) an i think( but not 100%) the offset should be 35 to 38. not sure about post 2000 tho...sorry

Spot on bonus :)
Alloy Guide Linky (http://www.alloyguide.com/Volvo.php)
This shows the info for up to 2000 s40
My BBS wheels came with spacer rings for the bore however so I had no issues fitting them to mine.

As far as I know there was no change from 2000 - 2001 although please do no quote me on that one.
In fact...according to this (http://s40concepts.net/forum/index.php?t=msg&th=10674&start=0&rid=831&S=5ad5815bf8ea9b538e9e4d06c4605e48) link there is no change at all.

The S40/V40 range from 96-04 was 4x114 ignore the point they say only up to 2000.
I bought wheels for my 01 T4 and they were 4x114.3.
Thats all you need to bother about so you can get any 4x114 wheels

You would most likely need 5mm spacers.
I am currently running some 18's and there is no issues with rubbing or anything if that is what you are concerned about?
Word to the wise..... Evo 1 -3 also run 4 x 114 so there are plenty of bargains to be had off the Evo sites :)
(where I got my 18's from) lol
